2Cor 5:17 states that "if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new". Eph 4:22-24 says "Put off your old nature which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful lusts, ²³ and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, ²⁴ and put on the new nature, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness."

Furthermore Jesus said in John 10:10, "I came so that you might have life and have it more abundantly". In Acts 26:18 he says more about his purpose in coming ... "to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me." (Eph 4:22-24)
